Allowed to do something - āhei

Kāore au e āhei te karanga, kua ngaro hoki taku reo.
I can't karanga as I've lost my voice.

Ko wai ka āhei te tautoko i muri?
Who is able to lend their support out the back (in the kitchen)?

Ka āhei a Hine te noho i konei.
Hine is allowed to stay here.

Ka āhei te kaiako te haere ki waho.
The teacher is allowed to go outside.

Ka āhei koe te mātakitaki i te pouaka whakaata.
You are allowed to watch TV.

Ka āhei ngā tauira te whakamahi i ngā rorohiko.
The students are allowed to use the computers.
