Rangi has been to Taupō on his friend's helicopter

mā runga

Means of travel uses mā runga. This is used to say how someone got from A to B or how they will get there.

I haere au mā runga motokā.
I traveled by car.

I haere mai au mā runga paihikara.
I came by bike.

I haere mai au mā runga pahi.
I came by bus.

If someone walks (that is, travels by foot) mā raro is used.

I tae mai ia mā raro.
He arrived on foot.

Ka haere au mā raro.
I'm walking.

Ka haere ia mā raro.
She walked.

Ka haere mā runga i te hōiho kerei.
Let's go on the grey horse.

Mā runga i te pahi.
I came by bus.

Kei te haere au mā runga waka rererangi.
I am travelling by plane.

Mā runga motokā.
By car.

Me haere tātou mā raro.
We should go by foot.

Ka tae mai a Koa mā runga motukā.
Koa travelled by car.

Kei te tae mai ia mā runga i te pahi.
She is arriving by bus.

Me mā runga tereina ki Te Awamutu.
They are going by train to Te Awamutu.

Those who travelled by bus.

Mia heard, and wanted to paddle there by canoe.
